In a small canyon in the White Mountains of Arizona a young girl sits and listens to her grandfather's stories. They tell of a people known as the Tlish Diyan, or Snake Clan, and how they came to be. She learns the story of her parents and grandparents, uncles and aunts, and an entire lineage that weaves between four leggeds, two leggeds, spirits, ancestors, ritual, adventure, and the creation of the world.
