The true identity of Fulcanelli, who allegedly succeeded in creating the philosophers stone, has never been discovered. Dubois investigates salient personalities of the esoteric milieu of Paris at the turn of the 20th century, and suggests that one of these--or several working together--could have been hiding his activity behind the pseudonym of Fulcanelli.
